World music will take you on a journey celebrating life and enabling you to enjoy the simple pleasure of humankind’s most natural expression of joy – singing. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience come along to Joy of Singing where all at once you’ll be supported and challenged and loving it! Before you know it you’ll be freely singing, in harmony, songs from many styles including African, Gospel, Celtic and Folk.
Brian Martin’s musical expertise ranges from accomplished conductor and teacher and trainer of teachers, to experienced vocalist, pianist, musical arranger and composer. He has spent much of his musical career not only performing but teaching various groups and workshops as well as lecturing at universities, and has a BA in Contemporary Music. He continues to tour nationally and internationally, as a musician, performer, teacher and music facilitator. Brian is one of the original tutors when Camp Creative returned to Bellingen in 2000 and hasnt missed a camp since
IMOGEN is a spirited and inspirational facilitator, and is committed to spreading the joy and healing power of singing and harmony. An award winning vocalist, she has been helping people to find ease and freedom in their voices, and have fun doing it, for more than a decade.
Imogen has performed from Melbourne to Maleny, from Margaret River to Mullumbimby; sharing her soulful, dynamic voice through her songs. An expert vocal coach, she has run the Vocal Program and teaches Aural & Rhythm Training at the Northern Rivers Conservatorium in Lismore, and was the Head of Music there for four years.
For the last 14 years Imogen has run community choirs in the Northern Rivers area, at Lismore, Bangalow, Cawongla and the Gold Coast. In addition to Joy of Singing at Camp Creative, each year she and Brian return to Bellingen to co-facilitate its sister workshop Joy of Singing Winter Camp. Imogen also facilitates HeartSong (a few days of rhythm and song for women on the Sunshine Coast) with Suze Pratten and Kate B, SeaSong (a weekend of singing and fun in Brunswick Heads NSW) with Suze Pratten, and regularly facilitates Harmony Singing, Vocal Technique and Reading Music workshops.
Motivated by the joy and sense of community that is fostered when people come together to sing, she is committed to nurturing harmony, healing and a healthy dose of silliness through the voice.
