Caroline Sharkey
|
This new workshop for textile art is based on sectioning fabric and abstractly painting it back onto the surface like never before. You will be shown how to look at colour and how combinations of the different shades from the underside of the fabric can change the surface. Experience how many different fabrics and other items such as beads, threads and yarns can create interesting textures on the surface and how a patterned fabric can change when cut into smaller pieces. The aim of this workshop is to experiment with these concepts and then either consolidate them into a single piece of work or to make a series of smaller abstract artworks. You will certainly go away with lots of new ideas about how to change the surface, colour and texture of your textile artworks.

About Your Tutor
Caroline works from her studio in the beautiful seaside village of Urunga on the NSW mid north coast. Her fibre art pictures are available from galleries around Australia. She prefers to use fabric and threads as her medium instead of paper and paint and the sewing machine instead of a brush.
The texture, colour and prints of fabrics combined together with threads fascinate her and provides inspiration for new designs. Most of Caroline’s designs are influenced by her love of the Australian landscape, the unique animals, fauna and fish. She is driven by colour and strives to find that special combination that has the WOW! Factor.

| The Enneagram - Knowing Yourself, Understanding Others |
code CA7 |
- Age:18+
Robert Bruce
|
The enneagram is a powerful approach to understanding the psychology, emotions and behaviour of ourselves and others. The enneagram symbol, a nine-pointed diagram (“ennea“ is the Latin word for “nine”) had its origins in many different ancient traditions. In the last four decades it has merged with modern psychology, evolving to describe the nine fundamental personality types of human nature. The modern enneagram is a condensation of universal wisdom, common-sense philosophy and psychology which provides extraordinary insights into human behaviour, particularly our own. The primary goal and purpose of the enneagram is self-knowledge; its ancillary benefit is that it allows us to understand the behaviour of others, and with that understanding, to be more accepting and compassionate. The course will allow you to identify your own personality type and to become familiar with the dominant issues of your type. Through self-observation and self-understanding you will see the pervasive influence of your personality type on your relationships, your work and at home. Through these insights you will come to know yourself more fully and be liberated to move towards a more loving and fulfilling life. The course will explore the many facets, interconnections and uses of the enneagram through discussions, practices and meditations. A binder and course materials will be provided as part of the course. No prior knowledge of the enneagram is necessary although reading any enneagram material prior to the course would be useful. The Wisdom of the Enneagram by Don Riso and Russ Hudson is highly recommended. The enneagram is not a religion and it will not interfere with anyone’s religious orientation.
