The Basics of Watercolour code A1
suitable for beginners
Course full
Bob Smith
Whether you are just starting, or have not used watercolours for some time and need kick starting, this is the course for you. You will learn about papers, brushes, colours and how to use them. Techniques such as wet into wet, dry brush, glazing, mixing colours, flat and graded washes all feature strongly in this course. Learn how to construct a painting from start to finish and how to use light and colour to make lively paintings. Instruction of drawing skills will also be included. Strong emphasis will be placed on how to avoid muddy, tired paintings. To keep your start-up costs down it is recommended that you bring the minimum of materials and purchase what you need at the camp as you need it. Avoid the cheap tubes of colour and cheap brushes as they don’t work. You will need a sealed (water proof) board approximately 40 x 60 cm - perspex is ideal, tissues, water jars, an atomiser sprayer and 18mm wide masking tape.
