Create your own website using simple custom-building tools, and find out how to use existing online marketplaces, like Etsy. Learn how to design your own stylish business cards. Learn how to effectively use social media like Facebook and Instagram for your creative business. Establish creative habits and learn business basics that will assist in sustaining your business. You will create visual content using collage, mixed media and product arranged creatively. These visuals will assist you in clarifying your business, market and vision; and establish efficient management habits, to help you prioritise and maximise output.

More about the course

Content and delivery may vary dependant on student interests and existing skill sets.

Day one

  • Clarify your intentions, categorise and visualise utilising bullet journaling methods. You will utilise a variety of 2D media to clarify your ideas & goals. All media provided however, you are encouraged to bring a stash of images and quotes that inspire you. Learn creative ways to organise the present and plan for the future. 
  • Inspiring creatives - case studies and contacts list
  • Defining your business: What goods / services do you offer? What's your POD? 
  • Customer analysis. 

Day two

  • Acknowledge your gifts: What can you do so well it feels effortless? When are you most productive? (Does time or location impact your creativity?)
  • Defining your why: Identifying areas that require growth or outsourcing. What do you hate doing, what activities drain you, or use too much time? 
  • Website design basics. Choosing a website builder and considering other methods available to interact with your customers.

 Homework: update website copy if website is desired.

Day three 

  • Clarify your brand. Colour theory and design principles to consider when branding. Create visual content. Organise existing images.
  •  Research and analyse options to interact with your customers. Experiment with a range of website builders. Choose the avenue to pursue that's most suited to your business. This could be building your own site or using Etsy, Made It or another collaboration method.

Day four

  • Business cards that rock. Case study and practical. 
  • Reaching your customer. Social media made easy.
  • How to grow an email list and share content.

Day five

  • Sustaining your creativity and business.

Habits that promote creativity.

Business basics. Managing and recording cash flow. Legalities. Opportunities. 

Celebration / final networking.

Emma Bond

Emma Bond runs weekly classes and workshops supporting creatives to grow their business. Emma believes you are never too old, or too young, to get crafty or learn something new. She loves to assist learners, mentoring them to engage in creative projects with confidence.  Emma has a vast range of strategies and industry tips you will utilise, unlocking your potential. She presents subject matter through practical explorations and relatable case studies. Her lessons are creatively exciting, social and positive.

Emma holds a Bachelor of Fine Art, Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary), Certificate IV Training and Assessment and is completing a Diploma of Vocational Education and Training / Diploma Training Design & Development. 

She is passionate about art, fashion, and business, she has completed study at the White House Institute of Design, Marie Forleo’s B School and the London College of Fashion.


Course Requirements

Students to bring:

  • Laptop
  • Website copy – template provided on payment
  • Images of their business services or product for use on website and for content creation

MATERIAL COSTS

Printed copy of all resources and templates in a folder

Assorted arts media for consumables and access to tools (brush markers, water colour pencils, water colour paint, assorted papers, glue sticks, scissors, rules)
