Drama For Teenagers

A course for teenagers who want to explore and be challenged by the craft of acting. Take on the challenge and fun of learning the art of improvising, creating and performing a story.

You’ll work with voice, to create a character and deliver dialogue. Fun exercises will help you to discover how to use the body, through mime, movement and gesture. Ally will work with the class to build characters, through observation, masks and costume. Finally, through music, dance, spoken word, action and stillness, your class will create a contemporary piece of theatre. At the end of the week, the class will showcase their talent, skills and collaboration with a final performance to a Camp audience.

More about the course

Starting with team building and drama games, students will gather skills over the week.

Time will be set aside each day for warm-ups, skill-building, and rehearsing so that the result at the end of the week demonstrates the power of the performer.

Skills include:

  • Mime, movement, gesture – using the body
  • Voice – creating a character through voice and delivering dialogue
  • Building characters through observation, masks and costume
  • Creating and performing a story

Over the week, participants will use music, dance, spoken word, action and stillness to create a contemporary piece of theatre.

Students will gain experience in performance preparation – settling those nerves, working with an audience and understanding the theatre environment.

At the end of the week, Ally hopes they share her idea that a week spent performing is the absolute best fun!
