Trevor Oliver-King

Trevor Oliver-King

Trevor’s passion for wood began back in the 60s, as early as he could swing an axe. His fascination for what was revealed, made chopping the firewood, Blackbox, Sheoak, Mallee & Cypress pine, a long and fascinating job!  Since those early years in woodheap slavery he went on to Industrial Arts teaching, followed by creating a furniture manufacturing and retail business in Canberra, specialising in Australian hardwoods, for nearly 20 years.  Throughout that time he also salvaged street and storm damaged trees for milling into furniture timber. Trevor has an enduring passion for revealing the hidden treasures of the grain features within timber,

Since moving to Bellingen, Trevor has been designing and making furniture from Raleigh Joinery,a facility shared with fellow wood enthusiasts.Over the years experimenting and developing skills to apply new technologies to his furniture design and woodworking. He was the Woodwork Tutor at Camp Creative from 2011-2014. He works with the students at the Coffs Harbour TAFE, Furniture Design School and was a founding member of Designers Connect.

Trevor’s work has been exhibited at The Bungendore Wood Works, Lillypilly Art Prize, the Designers Connect Pop-up exhibitions at old Sawtell Cinema, Bellingen Jazz Festival design exhibition and competition at which his piece
" Train Sublime"  took out both the Judge’s choice and People’s choice  for 2014.

He is current project is working with 2 other "furniture maker, designers" (Bim Morton and Sarah Andersen)   to establish the new and vibrant "Tree-O Gallery" in the Raleigh Industrial Estate, which he highly recommends you visit while you are staying in Bellingen over the Camp Creative week.
