YOUR COURSE TUTORS

Mother Frances Witt and Daughter Margaret Witt

Frances was born at Bellingen Hospital and raised in Urunga.

She grew up with a deep connection to her homelands and the waters of Urunga, surrounded by family. From her mother Frances learnt about Gumbaynggirr culture, stories, and the importance of caring for Country.

Margaret, the eldest daughter of Frances, also shares this close connection to her homelands and waters in Urunga. She is a proud voice for the strength and continuity of Gumbaynggirr culture, sharing stories of how she learnt to care for Country, create art from paperbark, and fish from the ocean — knowledge lovingly passed down from her grandmother.
