You will learn drumming rhythms from the vast continent of Africa, exploring the cultural significants of African rhythms and songs.
We will learn drumming technique, body percussion and the art of improvisation. We will also explore rhythms from Brazil and Cuba.
We will be journeying into the relationship of the many different African drums, from djembe and DunDuns to Bougarabou, and congas also the various percussion instruments that make up the ensemble, such as cow bells and Shekere etc.
Feeling and exporing how these ancient polyrhythms when combined weave a powerful tapestry of rhythm that moves and uplifts the spirit.
From beginner to advanced, you will be supported throughout this 5 day journey and come away feeling exhilarated and recharged.
Life is rhythm.
From our daily activities to the cycles of our bodies, our heart beat and the pumping of blood, from the in breath and the out breath the space between.
All is rhythm.
The only opportunity for performance at Camp Creative will be at the Party in the Park. This event runs on the Thursday during Camp Creative. Should rain disrupt that activity , there will be a provision for a lunch time performance at Bellingen High School on Friday.
