This workshop is designed for participants of all skill levels, offering an immersive exploration of ceramic sculpture through the creation of both hanging and stacking forms.

Luke Ford
Luke is a versatile ceramics artist and instructor based in Coffs Harbour, NSW.
With a Diploma of Ceramics from TAFE NSW and ongoing training in education, Luke is deeply engaged in the ceramics community as a member of Coastal Claymakers and The Australian Ceramics Association.
In addition to his involvement in the ceramics community, Luke operates his own ceramics practice producing and teaching in Coffs Harbour, providing enriching workshops and classes for aspiring ceramicists of all skill levels.
Luke’s work has been featured in various exhibitions, including group showcases at Nexus Gallery, Fortyfive Downstairs, and Kerrie Lowe Gallery. Luke also has a history of solo exhibitions and participation in competitions, such as the Sydney Teapot Show and Crackpot Cup Competition.
With a passion for both creating and teaching ceramics, Luke continues to make an impact through his art and ceramics instruction, inspiring others' participation in the ceramics community.
Tassanee Morris will be working alongside Luke as the assistant for this course.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have created a unique sculptural work that reflects their individual creativity.
This experience will not only refine their pottery skills but also provide a rewarding space for artistic expression.
Each student will leave with a handcrafted hanging or stacking sculpture, ready to adorn their home or garden.

Students to bring IF DESIRED - All of these are completely optional:
Sturdy top piece for your hanging sculpture such as a stick
Objects such as: Beads, Shells, Found objects, or anything with a hole that you may wish to include in your hanging or stacking sculpture
Apron
This class has an extra materials cost of $100, which is payable directly to the tutor.

DAY TWO: Building Techniques

Learn essential techniques:
Pinch pots
Rolling and cutting slab shapes
Slip and score methods for joining clay
Dive into creating your pieces

Continue creating your pieces
DAY THREE: Surface Treatments
Morning:
Learn about surface treatments
Applying Terra Sigillata
Continue creating your pieces
Afternoon:
Finish construction of your pieces
DAY FOUR: Finishing and Firing
Morning:
Complete any remaining surface treatments
Afternoon:
Load the kiln and fire early afternoon
Please note ALL work you wish to have fired should be in the kiln

DAY FIVE: Final Touches
Morning:
Kiln Cooling
Unload your pieces from the kiln
Afternoon:
Assemble your sculptures
Reflect on your work and share your creations with the group
Provide feedback for the tutor
Take your completed pieces home to enjoy!
