YOUR COURSE TUTOR

Tracy Kelly

Tracy is a versatile artist, jeweller, and designer who finds inspiration in the world around her.

With a deep-rooted passion for hand embroidery cultivated over the years, Tracy has elevated her beloved hobby into a pursuit of pattern design and teaching. A dedicated member of The Embroiderer's Guild of NSW, Tracy has immersed herself in the art of embroidery, honing her skills and techniques under the guidance of experienced mentors. Proudly sharing her expertise, Tracy conducts engaging classes and workshops at her home studio and participates in textile and arts festivals across Australia.

Tracy's journey as a tutor of creative arts has been marked by a commitment to fostering creativity and nurturing talent. With her patient guidance and infectious enthusiasm, Tracy creates a supportive learning environment where participants can explore the art of embroidery with confidence and joy.

She is delighted to return to Camp Creative, where she will host an introductory Hand Embroidery course, inviting participants to explore the boundless possibilities of this expressive craft.

  • Once the embroidery is complete, students will assemble their work into wearable art using high quality sterling silver earring hooks, handmade by your tutor, with several styles available to choose from.

This course is ideal for those with some experience in hand embroidery or confident beginners looking to explore a creative and contemporary project. It also serves as a natural progression for students who have completed a beginner embroidery class and wish to expand their skills in a new and exciting direction.

With an emphasis on creative expression and refining techniques, students will leave with new skills and a beautifully finished piece of unique wearable art.

  • Materials for two pairs of earrings will be provided in the additional materials kit, however students are welcome to bring any beads, threads etc that they might like to incorporate into their designs.

This class has an extra materials cost of $140, which is payable directly to the tutor.

Once you book your ticket, the tutor will be in touch to arrange payment.

    Cost includes:

    • 2 x handmade sterling silver earhook (pairs)

    • Pattern selection - including choice of additional pattern and supplies to take home

    • Threads

    • Fabric

    • Embroidery hoop

    • Needle

  • Suitable for everyone.

  • NOTE: THIS IS A PLAN ONLY AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE

    DAY ONE

We’ll begin with a brief overview of materials and design considerations specific to embroidered jewellery.

Students will select their earring style, prepare their fabric and choose threads.

The remainder of the day will be dedicated to stitching, with personalised guidance and technique demonstrations throughout.

    DAY TWO

Students will continue working on their embroidery, refining their pieces with support as needed.

Once stitching is complete, we’ll move on to assembling the earrings using the sterling silver hooks provided. We’ll also cover tips for finishing, care, and future design ideas for embroidered jewellery.

Students will have a choice of an additional earrings kit to begin, and take home to complete.

By the end of the course, students will have a completed pair of earrings, and the skills to continue exploring this unique fusion of embroidery and jewellery-making at home.

“Tracy was a great teacher - patient, kind, knowledgeable and fun.”
— Happy Camper Review
“Tracy Kelly is a superb teacher. The materials were all provided for a fee, which is much the best model for beginners, and were all of high quality. Tracy had prepared 2 booklets of detailed instructions, photos and samples which will enable us to continue after the course as well as being a handy reference in the classroom. Her explanations and demos were very clear, and she was always checking on each student and was constantly available to us even during breaks. I would very strongly recommend Tracy as a teacher to anyone considering a course of hers. Thank you!”
