YOUR COURSE TUTOR
Merrilyn Whittle
Merrilyn has studied embroidery in one form or another for over 50 years.
She has taught for Embroiderers’ Guilds, Retail stores, International Cruises, Individuals and was the primary tutor while proprietor of her own Needlework and Patchwork store.
She has had and continues to have, a wide variety of her projects published in Australian magazines. In 2011, after studying Traditional Japanese Embroidery for over 8 years, she received her Certification to teach this amazing and disciplined form of embroidery. Expanding upon this style of embroidery, Merrilyn now designs and publishes her own Traditional Japanese Bead Embroidery Designs.
Currently living in Port Macquarie, Merrilyn is married with 4 children, and 6 grandchildren. Merrilyn loves travelling Australia with her husband, to share and teach this embroidery in remote areas that don’t have access to embroidery teachers.
Lynda Guyder will be working alongside Merrilyn as the assistant for this course.

“I have attended at least six Japanese beading classes given by Merrilyn Whittle and can highly recommend the whole experience. Merrilyn has endless patience and is happy to demonstrate individually as many times as you need and provide feedback as you go. The notes are most detailed with extremely useful photos of each stage but nothing beats seeing it in action.”
“I have attended Merrilyn’s classes for many years now for the following reasons:
Merrilyn’s work is exquisite, her designs, colours and projects are beautiful.
Her unique ability to instil a sense of achievement and ability in her students regardless of their skill level.
Merrilyn has a calm manner, her ability to repeatedly advise without any judgement and her sense of humour make her a gem of a teacher.
I always look forward to her classes and consider it a privilege to be taught by her. ”
