NOTE: THIS IS A PLAN ONLY AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE
DAY ONE: Papier Mache Magic
Papier-mâché is a super fun, super messy, brilliantly eco-friendly and uber creative!
We will use papier-mâché techniques to make anything from bowls to bugs. Use your imagination to build using paper pulp onto a base of recycled card to create a brilliantly bright 3D masterpiece. Let your imagination go bananas.
We will create our papier-mâché pieces in session #1 and paint and finish them in a separate session later in the week so that they have time to dry.
DAY TWO: Freaky Kooky Critters
Gotta love a little quirky and freaky critter as a bag buddy.
Made from scrap fabrics and felt, select from a choice of simple base patterns and use your imagination to make your very own freaky critter. Long legs, short arms, three eyes, spikes and tails — the combinations are endless.
Attach them to a cool little key chain and take them with you wherever you go.
DAY THREE: Stamp-O-Matic & Papier-mâché
It’s amazing what you can use to create brilliant stamps!
We will explore stamp and mark making with a number of household items, even fruit and veg! Over the morning, we will play with shape and colour and come up with designs that we can put on a calico tote bag or pencil case.
Seeing we’ll have the paints out; we will decorate our Papier Mache creations from Monday as they should have had time to dry.
DAY FOUR: Pop-up Cards
Don’t you love a pop-up? It adds an extra wow to any project. And the beauty of it is, with a few base skills, they are simple to make!
You will learn a number of basic paper engineering skills needed to design and create bright and imaginative paper pop-ups. Once learned, these techniques can be applied to all sorts of projects such as journals, school projects, greeting cards and mini books.
DAY FIVE: Cyanotype Printing
Experience the magic of Cyanotype printing. Using everyday objects, flowers and stencils, you will create unique artworks on paper or fabric in the signature cyan-blue colour — it is photography without a camera!
With a simple coating of non-toxic iron salts (ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide) to paper or fabric, and the rays of the sun, literally see your artworks appear before your eyes.
