NOTE: THIS IS A PLAN ONLY AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE
DAY ONE: Gelli Printing for cards, journals and zines
Who doesn’t like jelly? Learn the basics of Gelli printing and you open the door to a world original and funky gift cards, tags and artworks.
No more mass-market cards and wall art, just your own masterpieces. Using homemade Gelli plates (100% compostable and recyclable), we’ll look at the basic techniques to achieve stunning results.
We will look at using your creations as collage for journals and Zines. This one will get messy, so dress for a mess!
DAY TWO: Scrunchies & Hair Nik-Naks
The stores are full of hair nik-naks, expensive, mass made, with a stack of unrecyclable packaging and a big $ mark-up. No need to spend money on expensive mass-market accessories on the high street anymore, learn to cover hair clips, make head bands and scrunchies.
Using odds and ends of fabrics, trims and base accessories you can create your own funky hair nik-naks. With some nifty but simple hand sewing the help of a glue gun you’ll be able to whip up something up for every occasion!
DAY THREE: Charming dangles, bangles & shoe bling
Why buy premade when you can create your own vibe!
With a smorgasbord of upcycled bling, create your own friendship bracelets, bag dangles, anklets and shoe charms. Style up your school bags and your Crocs and Converse.
We have everything you need, threads, leather, decorative polymer beads, clay disk beads, ocean themed charms, gemstones, letter beads, wooden beads, novelty beads and plenty of upcycled bling.
DAY FOUR: DIY Natural Skin Care
Just read the back of any cosmetics and skin care and there is a scary ingredient list as long as your arm.
Whilst more high street brands are now promoting vegan and cruelty free products, they’re still full of preservatives and unknowable’s like coal tar dyes nano particles. Sodium laurel sulphate, petroleum by-products, phthalates — yikes! In this workshop, we will look at making the basics from scratch using all natural ingredients including vegetable and nut oils and butters, essential oils, plant-based waxes and all natural colourings.
We will give you the recipes and walk you through the recipes to make:
Fresh face spray
Basic facial scrub
Zit-zapping blemish stick
Moisturiser
Tinted lip balm
Being all natural, your creations are suitable for all skin types. Ditch the dodgy brands, save heaps of money and treat your skin to some all-natural goodness.
DAY FIVE: DIY Natural Hair Care
Just read the back of any shampoo and conditioner care and there is a scary ingredient list as long as your arm.
Many brands tout natural ingredients but there are still preservatives and unknowable’s like sodium laurel sulphate, petroleum by-products, colourings and synthetics — the list goes on. In this workshop, we will look at making the basics from scratch using all natural ingredients like apple cider vinegar, essential oils, vegetable glycerine and vegetable and nut oils.
We will give you the recipes and walk you through making:
Peppermint shampoo
Lavender and sage conditioner
Cider vinegar rehab rinse
Tangle wrangler
Lavender smoothing serum
Being all natural, your creations are suitable for all hair types. Ditch the brands, save heaps of money and give your hair a product holiday by switching to all-natural goodness.
