Have you ever seen a Lego stop motion video on YouTube, and thought, ''I wish I could do that, but it looks so hard and complicated?'' Well in this course, you will achieve all of that and more, with ease!
Over the course duration you will learn how to make stop motion animations using Lego, Sylvanians, flip books and Playdoh. You will learn to use green screen and voiceover, use filters and frames, change the aspect ratio, shoot in 4K, change FPS (frames per second), add in your own media, digital animation and title and credit scenes.

Felix Hooper
Meet Camp Creative’s first ever youth tutor!
Felix is 14 and is a high school student at Tamborine Mountain College in Queensland, that loves lego, Formula One, cars and stop motion.
He has been acting on stage and screen since he was 4 and has been in many TV commercials, as well as the Netflix show 'Irreverent'.
Felix already has teaching experience and has run a stop motion course for young people at HOTA (Home of the arts). He has been making stop-motion videos since he was 9.

In this course you will make multiple, flip book animations (physical books), digital animations, and stop motion animations
Students will also make one big stop motion animation as a class to show at the end of the course at the kids showcase event.
With parent permission, each participant will have help to create a YouTube channel to post their fantastic creations online. If parents are happy with letting their child having a YouTube channel, they will need to set up a Gmail for their child prior to the course, with the age of the account being registered as 13 years or older at time of the course. (the minimum age to have a YouTube channel is 13 years of age on a Gmail account, if parents do not want this for their child that is completely fine).
Students will take home their flip books, and a whole lot of stop motion animations!
NOTE:
This course will run twice during the week, with a morning session and an afternoon session. The content will be identical.
Students can choose to do either 5 half-day mornings OR 5 half-day afternoons for the week.

Please bring the following on your first day of class:
Apple iPhone or Apple iPad with IOS 17 or newer (NOTE: the app that we will be using is not available on android or any other tablet brand) - iPad with a stand preferable (for ease of use)
Stop Motion Studio Pro app will need to be pre-installed on your device (NOTE: the pro version is an extra $8.99 and is an ESSENTIAL requirement - this version has the features needed for this course)
Compatible device charger (labeled with your name)
Extension cord (labeled with your name)
Lunch & water bottle
OPTIONAL - A tripod compatible with your device
OPTIONAL - Apple Pencil
This class has an extra materials cost of $35 which is payable directly to the tutor.

DAY ONE
Learn about what stop motion is, and create our own physical flip books.
Create a digital animation on the 'Stop Motion Studio' app.
The class will come up with the storyline for the class stop motion animation that will be displayed at the kids showcase event.
DAY TWO & THREE
Intro to using the stop motion studio software.
Lego and polymer clay stop motions.
DAY FOUR
Film class stop motion.
Setting up YouTube accounts and uploading content (only for students with permission).
Students who are not setting up channels will get to create more stop motions.
DAY FIVE
Learn how to use green screen.
Practice using the green screen function.
Watch the class stop motion animation at the kids showcase event.
