What This Is (and Isn’t!)

This is not your typical music workshop:

• You don’t need to bring an instrument (though you’re welcome to!)

• The primary experience will not be focused on playing your instrument

• You won’t be learning set songs or doing traditional music training

• It’s not limited to experienced musicians or any one skill level

This is a creative deep-dive into the heart of music and self-expression:

• A playful, holistic exploration of your musical personality

• Designed for everyone—from absolute beginners to advanced players and teachers

• Packed with games, insights, imagination, and fresh musical perspectives

• An invitation to reconnect with your natural musicality and design your own learning journey

• You’ll take home experiences and knowledge that translate directly to your instrument and musicianship

• You’ll also leave with your own personal map for ongoing musical training, discovery, and exploration

You’ll explore nine distinct musical “types,” each representing a unique doorway into creativity, expression, and skill-building. Through storytelling, reflection, hands-on activities, guided listening, and group work, you’ll discover:

• your own musical personality type

• how to harness your strengths and reframe your challenges

• a fresh way of understanding music that goes beyond theory

• and a generative, deeply creative method for learning and teaching

You’ll leave with:

• a personalised musical map

• creative tools to support lifelong growth

• renewed artistic purpose

• and a deeper, more joyful connection to music

This is music education reimagined—for the complete beginner and the seasoned professional.

Please bring the following on your first day of class:

Bring a notebook or journal, an open mind, and your sense of wonder.

Your instrument is optional—but the transformation is real.

No experience required.

DAY 1: Enter the 9 Doors

• Welcome and orientation.

• Introduction to the 9 Doors to Musical Mastery and the play-based learning model.

• Explore why traditional methods often fail and how a fresh, holistic framework can unlock lifelong musical growth.

• Meet all 9 musical archetypes and begin identifying your own musical personality type.

DAY 2: Emotional Exploration

• Dive into the power of emotion in music. We’ll explore the Moody, Showy, and Unique Musicians and what they reveal about expression, performance, and personal voice (sound).

• Through story, sound, and spontaneous play, you’ll learn how to channel feeling into flow—and identify the musical moods that speak most strongly to you.

DAY 3: Intellectual Activation

• Engage your musical mind with the Clever, Technical, and Rebellious Musicians.

• Discover new ways to think, analyse, decode, and invent. Whether you love patterns, crave theory, or break all the rules, this day will unlock tools for understanding and expanding your musical world.

DAY 4: Instinctual Grounding

• Return to the body and the beat. Explore the Checklist, Political, and All-Seeing Musicians—those who prioritise rhythm, momentum, and completion.

• You’ll get hands-on with timing games, physical music-making, and the art of finishing things (a wildly underrated superpower).

DAY 5: Mapping the Journey

• Once you’ve met all 9 Musicians, it’s time to explore the map.

• Discover how the Doors connect and synergise through different pathways.

• Uncover the dynamic interplay between types and begin designing a musical adventure that’s uniquely yours.

• Wrap up with collaborative play, shared insights, and next steps for continuing the journey beyond the workshop.
