Explore collage as a playful and expressive creative practice using a huge range of papers, textures, images and creative materials. Across the week, you'll create a variety of projects while experimenting with colour, composition, layering and personal expression.

Take your time to look through patterned papers, magazines, maps, stickers, fabrics, words, found imagery and creative ephemera to discover the pieces that speak to you. Play with different combinations, textures and colours while exploring project options including backing boards, cards, magnets, coasters, canvases and keyrings.

Along the way, you'll learn techniques for working with different materials, surfaces, adhesives and finishes, and discover approaches that can be easily continued at home. Whether you're creating textured imagery, combining words and pictures, or simply exploring colour and composition, you'll be supported to develop projects that reflect your own interests and ideas.

Each day includes brief demonstrations and discussions of collage techniques, while most of the session time is dedicated to exploring your own ideas and working on projects at your own pace, with gentle guidance and support provided throughout. Suitable for beginners and more experienced creatives alike.

COURSE TUTOR

Amy Corcoran

Amy, from Creativity and Connection, creates relaxed, inclusive workshops where creativity becomes a way to connect – with yourself and others.

With many years of experience designing and delivering creative activities through inclusive youth and community programs, she loves creating welcoming spaces where people can explore, experiment and create in their own way.

Her workshops focus on self-expression, curiosity and process over perfection.

I loved being able to take my time to rummage through all the papers…it was like a treasure hunt!

The images sparked so many memories and conversations. We found ourselves talking about things we hadn’t thought about for years.

There should be more workshops like this – not focused on achieving a particular outcome, just having time to play, explore and enjoy the creative process while chatting with the people around you.
