⚠️ Extra info: Our youth courses are busy group environments led by creative tutors, not specialised care staff. To ensure a safe and positive experience for all, students must be able to follow group instructions, work respectfully alongside peers, and participate independently without constant one-on-one supervision. If your child requires extra behavioural or learning support, please contact us before enrolling so we can discuss if the course is a good fit.

Cost of $35 includes:
A range of creative reuse materials purchased from the Reverse Garbage retail space, for students to use throughout the course. This will include items such as reclaimed paper, cardboard, textiles, plastics, e-waste components, offcuts, industrial discard, and other unique reuse materials.
NOTE: Supply costs will be collected by the tutor before Camp Creative.
Supplies that you need to bring to class
Lunch - Please ensure your child has a drink bottle, as well as sufficient food/snacks to get them through the day.

Learning outcomes
Students will take home a range of creative reuse projects they have made themselves.
They will learn simple making techniques, explore reclaimed materials, and gain a practical understanding of reduce, reuse, recycle and the circular economy.
WEEK PLAN
DAY ONE
Welcome and ice-breakers/games so students can get to know the facilitators and each other.
Introduction Reverse Garbage, creative reuse and the ideas of reduce, reuse, recycle and the circular economy.
DAY TWO to FIVE
Each day will include a variety of structured making activities using reclaimed materials, with clear examples, demonstrations and step-by-step support from facilitators.
Students may explore projects such as cardboard construction, e-waste robots, reuse fashion pieces, jewellery, and nature-inspired creations.
There will also be time for creative experimentation, where students can explore the materials, test their own ideas and develop unique pieces.
Each day will finish with time to tidy up, share what has been made and celebrate the group’s creativity.
COURSE TUTORS
Sam Daykin
Sam is the Education Manager at Reverse Garbage and a former Bellingen local, with five years’ experience delivering environmental education programs for young people. Sam is passionate about helping children connect creativity with sustainability through hands-on learning.
Louie O’Carroll
Louie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Acting and brings extensive experience working with children and young people through creative reuse. Together, Sam and Louie create a playful, supportive space where students can experiment, make and learn.
Reverse Garbage has been championing creative reuse for 50 years, helping communities rethink waste and see the value in discarded materials. This course is delivered by experienced Reverse Garbage educators who love supporting young people to explore, experiment and make with reclaimed materials. Our team brings a practical, playful approach to sustainability, helping students build confidence, creativity and hands-on skills in a welcoming environment.
