Epic Costumes: Cosplay & SFX

$507.00

Do you love love LOVE costumes? Sci-Fi, historical, fantasy, fairytale, Manga, Anime?

Have you got a grand plan for the ultimate costume but don’t know where to start? Then come and join me as we dive into the wonderfully wacky world of costuming!

Learn how to master screen-worthy costumes on a tight budget using every-day materials and preloved finds. During this immersive week, we will cover the base techniques to fabricate fabulously with EVA foam, glue guns, paints, embellishments and fabrics.

A week is not a long time, so a full costume is a stretch, but by the end of the week you will be able to take away the skills and know how so you can create your amazing costumes from scratch with basic equipment. We can work on a small detail from our costume so that you have the confidence to expend and create well beyond Camp Creative 2027!

Over the week we will cover the following:

•   Planning your costume, research, sketching and materials

•   Budgeting and sourcing materials

•   Prototyping

•   Measuring and fitting

•   How to up cycle, recycle and adapt preloved items

•   Working with EVA foam

•   Basic sewing skills and fabric manipulation

•   Basic painting, weathering and breaking down

All basic materials will be provided (tools, EVA foam, adhesives and paints) and students are encouraged to bring along their own assortment of the weird and wonderful.

This will be a super fun filled week, learning and sharing your interests in costuming and cosplay. It is a fully inclusive environment where the sharing of ideas and encouragement is key. I encourage everyone to send through a simple mood board of your dream costumes and what you would like to be able to create, and I can make sure we cover the skills needed to bring them to reality.
