COURSE TUTOR
Michele Hollister
Michele Hollister is a Queensland-based glass artist whose creative journey spans more than three decades.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Art in 1991, Michele established Mihardwork Leadlighting in 1993, laying the foundation for a lifelong dedication to the artistry of glass. Her fascination with the medium’s shifting nature has led her to explore a wide range of techniques, including stained glass painting, fused glass, and lampwork beadmaking.
Michele has presented solo exhibitions at both the Texas and Dalby Regional Art Galleries, showcasing her versatility and commitment to her craft. Since 2021, Michele has been an artisan at the iconic Cobb & Co Museum, where she teaches leadlighting and shares her expertise with the next generation of makers. She is passionate about preserving and passing on traditional skills, believing strongly in the importance of continuing the “lost trades.”
What Michele is most proud of is not only her own artistic practice, sustained for over 30 years, but also the many students she has guided and inspired along the way. Through her teaching and art, she continues to illuminate the beauty of glass and the enduring power of creativity.
“No matter the chosen project - and there are many to work through! - Michele offers clear and concise instructions at a steady pace. She is able to address the various skill levels of her participants and make it a relaxed and fun weekend of creating. ”
“The quality, and quantity, of materials provided is always fabulous. Time frames are consistently well planned but when a student does struggle to keep up, Michele is always available to assist and encourage. ”
