COURSE PLAN
DAY ONE
Students will learn about the work surface we will be using, including how to make and prepare them, and an inexpensive way to hang your finished artwork.
Discuss the reference image and what constitutes a good source image to use for your future projects.
Explain the Expresso Method of transferring the image to the board, using Calipers, and how to SEE as an artist.
Discuss paints and the Zorn Palette, the importance of contrast (value), colour mixing and how to use various brushes to create specific effects.
Practice learned techniques on your work board
Commence the painting and complete it by the end of day.
DAY TWO
MORNING:
Review the previous day's work.
Recap on what has been taught and address any issues or questions.
Complete the painting if required. The paint from the first day will in most cases be touch dry, and some additional techniques on adding detail and finishing off will be explained - blending, highlights, improving contrasts.
AFTERNOON:
Complete a second portrait to at least 90% completion.
Using the experience gained from Day One, progress will be far more rapid, and 100% completion will be possible.
The student will take away the materials kit they purchased and will be able to confidently complete at home if needed.
