What do our rooms say about us?

In this inspiring five-day painting course, participants will explore interiors, still life, windows, and the everyday spaces where life unfolds. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Matisse, Bonnard, and Vuillard, we will investigate how colour, pattern, light, and composition can transform ordinary subjects into rich and expressive paintings.

Participants will explore the relationship between interior and exterior space, the use of pattern and decorative surfaces, and the ways in which objects and environments can tell stories about the people who inhabit them.

Suitable for beginners through to experienced artists, the course provides structured guidance while encouraging individual interpretation and creative exploration. Students will develop a series of studies and at least one resolved painting, while gaining practical skills in composition, colour relationships, and painting techniques.

Whether you are new to painting or looking to refresh your practice, this course offers an engaging opportunity to slow down, observe closely,

Kate has an incredible ability to meet each student exactly where they are. Her demonstrations are clear, her feedback is thoughtful, and she creates such a supportive environment. I came away feeling more confident in my painting and inspired to continue creating long after the workshop ended.
— Gemma
I loved Kate’s balance of technical instruction and creative freedom. She encouraged us to develop our own ideas while providing practical guidance on colour, composition, and painting techniques. It was one of the most enjoyable and rewarding art courses I have attended.
